As they await their next release, Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh have a reason to celebrate now. We’ve heard that their upcoming film, Grand Masti, which is the sequel to their 2004 hit comedy, Masti, has caught the fancy of many distributors after the release of its trailer. Apparently, many are offering huge sums for the film.
An industry source reveals, 'It’s surprising that a movie that’s made on a relatively low budget is generating this kind of curiosity. Although the film is an adult comedy, distributors are taking interest. In fact, one of their territories has been sold for close to Rs1.5crore. That’s big for a movie like this one.' Apparently, a couple of other territories have also been sold at high prices while the remaining ones are still being locked in.
Ask producer Ashok Thakeria about this development and he says, 'We are elated with the phenomenal response the trailer has elicited from not only the public, but distributors as well. Masti was a trendsetter nine years ago. We are glad the sequel’s trailer itself has generated so much excitement. Speaking of the distributors, they are committing great prices and we are closing territories as we speak.'
