He will make his big-screen debut soon. Yet, Olympic medalist Vijender Singh has always maintained that boxing will remain his priority. So, not surprisingly, we now hear that the shooting schedule of Kabir Sadanand’s Fugly, which was to commence in the first week of August, has been postponed for Vijender’s first love.
The film was set to hit the floors on August 6 in Leh-Ladakh. That was till Vijender got to know that the team trials for the upcoming World Boxing Championships in Kazakhstan are to be held from August 16 to 18 in Patiala. The event is organised by the International Boxing Association. 'Of course, he needs to practise hard. He has been doing so for a week now and will continue to do that till the trials. The makers had no other option but to push the film’s first schedule,' says an industry insider.
Now, in all likelihood, the film will start around August 20. 'Kabir and the producers (Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi’s production company) know how important the event is for Vijender. And, they also know that it’s about the country’s prestige, so they didn’t think much about the shift,' adds the insider.
While Vijender couldn’t be reached for a comment, Kabir confirms the news. He says, 'The shift though happened at the last minute, it was done without batting an eyelid. Ashvini and we believed that it was extremely important for Vijender and the country.' The film also stars newbies Mohit Marwah (Anil Kapoor’s nephew) and Kiara Advani.
