Bihar: At least 6 students were killed and 5 sustained injuries in a road accident on Monday in Bihar's Siwan district, 125km north west from the state capital, police said.

The accident occurred when the auto rickshaw carrying the students to a coaching class collided with a pickup van. While 6 of them died on the spot, the injured were rushed to a government hospital.

Family members of the injured students who went to the Sadar Hospital alleged that there weren't enough doctors and the children did not receive prompt medical attention.

Agitated they ransacked the hospital premises and torched more than six vehicles, including an ambulance, parked in the hospital.

The police reached the spot after they received information about the incident and tried to pacify the mob but it turned violent and started pelting stones. The police had to resort to mild lathicharge to control the situation.

Binod Kumar, DIG Saran, has been asked to rush to the spot and inquire about the violence as well as the role of local police. SDO Durgesh Kumar said that injured have been referred to a private hospital. He claimed that situation is under control.

It is third incident in the state in the last three days when a mob has torched vehicles after road accidents.

On Saturday, a mob had torched a city bus at Ashok Rajpath in Patna after 3 people were injured.

Another incident took place in Saran district on Sunday when a speedy bus mowed down a youth. Later, a mob torched the bus.
