New Delhi: With speculations over fresh elections in Delhi, two Congress MLAs tonight met party president Sonia Gandhi and are understood to have requested her to bring back Sheila Dikshit to lead the party.

Sources said the two MLAs also conveyed to Gandhi about their views on how to strengthen the party in Delhi which suffered a humiliating defeat in both Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Congress had won a paltry eight seats in the 70-member Assembly election while it could not even win a single seat out of the seven Lok Sabha constituencies in Delhi in the general elections.

Following the drubbing in Assembly polls the party had appointed former Transport and Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely to rejuvenate the party.
