Pochampally Handloom Park is an integrated handloom textile facility comprising designing, tying and dyeing, weaving etc, all under a single roof with a focus to sustain the unique Ikat technique on textiles.
The park is first of its kind facility that has grey yarn to unique tie and dye designing, warp beam preparation, weaving on framed mechanically sturdier handlooms, unlike the age old pit looms, all in one location. It is also the first handloom/handicraft registered under Geographical Indication Act of Intellectual Property Rights of India.
Product development support at the facility includes Design and skill development workshop for Ikat artisans; and training in pattern development, cutting and stitching techniques.
Notably, NCDPD designers have worked in the Pochampally Handloom Park to produce innovative customer oriented designs, while providing patterns and finishing support. (knn)
