The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is set to form a two-member committee to help the I-League clubs fulfil the mandatory ‘A’ criteria necessary for the compliance of club licensing system.

The decision was taken following a meeting of city I-League clubs – East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan Sporting and Prayag United SC – with Subrata Dutta, senior vice-president of AIFF, on Tuesday.

Dutta asked the 14 clubs to appeal for an exemption to compete in the National club competitions this season before the deadline on August 14. The clubs have reacted positively.

The two-member committee will help the clubs fulfil the various conditions laid out in the 45-point ‘A’ criteria.

Dutta said the AIFF would also request the AFC to extend the deadline for compliance if the clubs start working on the ways to fulfil the criteria.
