Publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr, also chairman of The New York Times Company, and Michael Golden, vice-chairman, cited The Times's success with its digital subscription model, profitability and strong cash flow as reasons it was "perfectly able to fund future growth. The Times has both ideas and the money to pursue innovation."
