A large number of devotees take the train route on Mondays to visit Katyayani Temple, barely one and a half km from Dhamara Ghat station, in the absence of a road route.
The minister, who announced construction of another platform and a foot over-bridge for Dhamara Ghat station, said, "The district administration should have coordinated with local railway authorities to manage the crowd. I do see lack of coordination here."
The minister also took on the state government for not constructing roads on either side of the railway tracks because of which passengers
de-boarding from any train had to walk along the tracks for some distance. "There is no dearth of funds for construction of rural roads," he said.
Passengers had no escape when the Saharsa-Patna
Express, which did not have to stop at Dhamara Ghat, crossed at speed of 80 km on Monday. There was no railway announcement system at the station. The minister said that such a system would now be put in place at the Dhamara station.
