"In May, Maoists attacked a rally (in Darbha) in which several Congressmen were killed. Raman Singh came before the media and said, 'if we have committed a lapse, we will look into it'. He visited the homes of victims," said Modi.
"In Patna, terrorists... exploded several bombs... they had conspired to kill BJP leaders. But there was no sign of grief in the city. Such a big incident took place, lekin wahan ki sarkar mehfil mana rahi thi (but the government was partying) and enjoyed chhappan bhog," alleged Modi. "When he (Nitish) was asked about any likely security lapse, he arrogantly dismissed it. There was no mention of any inquiry."
Addressing a poll rally in Jagdalpur, Modi also attacked the earlier Congress government in the state and described former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi as "julmi, atyachari shashak" (despotic, tyrant ruler).
"Congress ka panja padta to Chhattisgarh dus saal men tabah ho jata (If Chhattisgarh had fallen into Congress hands, it would have been ruined in 10 years)," said Modi. "If you had not given Chhattisgarh to Raman Singh, the state would have gone to looters (Congress)," he said.
Targeting Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, he said, "Delhi's Shehzada is fooling people by saying that they brought the Food Security Act. It was actually introduced by the BJP government in Chhattisgarh."
Urging the people to vote for development, he said, "Tribals have been poor and backward for long, but the Congress never remembered you." He said the Congress has treated Bastar only as a "picnic spot".
"In the next five years, Chhattisgarh, under Raman Singh, will overtake Gujarat, and it will be a matter of great pride for me," he said.
