1.14 pm: Union External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid says the fresh statement of Defence Minister A K Antony in Parliament is based on reports from Army Chief General Bikram Singh after speaking to troops.

12.56 pm: According to media reports, talks between India and Pakistan have been put on hold in the wake of the killing of five Indian soldiers at the Line of Control (LoC) by the Pakistani army. The neighbouring country had proposed talks on Sir Creek issue in mid-August.

12.41 pm: Both the Houses of Parliament got adjourned till 2 pm over several issues, including Defence Minister A K Antony's statement on LoC killings.

12.20 pm: Defence Minister A K Antony has said that it is not clear that specialist troops of the Pakistani army were involved in the killing of Indian soldiers.

He said that India would now review the situation at Line of Control (LoC) and the relationship with Pakistan, asking the neighbouring country to act tough on terror.

12.14 pm: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj hails Defence Minister A K Antony's fresh statement on the killing of five Indian soldiers, cautioning him to not repeat his earlier 'mistake'.

12.12 pm: Defence Minister A K Antony, in his fresh statement on the LoC killings, said that Pakistan was in know of the act committed in Poonch. He further said that Pakistan must not take India's restraint for granted.

12.10 pm: Defence Minister A K Antony begins making a fresh statement on the killing of five Indian soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC).

12.05 pm: Parliament resumes amidst uproar by the Opposition party. Defence Minister A K Antony is expected to begin making his statement soon.

11.25 am: Both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha have been adjourned after uproar over the killing of five Indian soldiers by Pakistan at the LoC.

11.20 am: Defence Minister A K Antony is expected to issue a fresh statement on the killing of five Indian soldiers by Pakistan in Parliament at around noon.

11.13 am: Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stage a walkout in the Rajya Sabha, slamming the government's stand.

11.06 am: Army Chief Bikram Singh briefs Defence Minister A K Antony on the issue of the killing of five Indian soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC). This comes a day after the Army Chief paid tributes to the slain soldiers.

With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gunning for the Defence Minister over his statements on the killing of five Indian soldiers by Pakistan near the Line of Control (LoC), A K Antony is expected to issue a fresh statement on Thursday. This, even as the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government has accused the main opposition party of playing politics over the issue.
