Although she found recognition as a ramp model, success in films eluded her. But that hasn’t dampened Tejaswini Kolhapure’s spirits. She has Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly up for release next, and another project in hand. Having also dabbled in television almost a decade ago with the soap, Mujhe Chand Chahiye, life is in a way coming full circle for her as the small screen is beckoning her again. But Tejaswini doesn’t have TV on her mind right now.
'I got offers from two makers. One was from Tony and Deeya Singh and the other from Frames 24. We had meetings and they offered me the role of a protagonist. They were very keen but unfortunately I wasn’t very interested.' She goes on to explain why: "I was also not really looking to working in TV at that point of time. My film was supposed to start so I had to decline the offer."
The actor is now waiting for her next film Ugly which will release by the end of this year. She says, 'There are a couple of offers which I will talk about once we start shooting. I am waiting for them to begin. Once you do TV, you can’t do anything else. That is one huge disadvantage about the medium. You have to give it 20-25 days a month.' She adds, 'You have to forget about everything else and do just one TV show for, sometimes a whole year. It’s time-consuming and there’s no time left for anything. It’s tough to adjust a film schedule with a TV shoot.'
Although films are her sole focus now, she is game for TV if an exciting opportunity comes up. 'I am not saying TV is something I will never do. I would, but it depends on how I feel at that point of time, and what they are offering me (the pay package), the role, the channel etc,' says Tejaswini.
