A few days ago, Shahid Kapoor had especially flown to Hyderabad to attend his school friend’s engagement party.
On the other hand, Imran Khan has known his best buddy for 25 years. Who says Bollywood stars form fickle friendships?
On Friendship Day, we find out what the young brigade feels about the significance of friendship in modern lives that are overrun by busy schedules and the onslaught of social networking sites.
Do you feel that the significance of friendship is eroding in today’s busy times?
Do you believe in the concept of Friendship Day?
Do you miss your old friends and are you in touch with any of them?
Shahid Kapoor
I genuinely feel that friends matter a lot in your life. And like every other relationship, we also need to nurture our friendships. But generally friends are way less demanding than other relationships in our life.
I haven’t thought about Friendship Day per se, but yes friendships do matter a lot to me.
Most of my friends are actually my school friends since most of my friendships are old ones. Today, everyone is busy but we need to make time for our friends and chill with them. Believe me it’s worth it.

The definition of friendship, for me, is the relationship between two people who are just there for each other. It doesn’t matter if we are able to talk only online and don’t have enough time to meet each other.
Friends are part of our day-to-day lives. We need them around us every day. But it’s always good to have a day to reinforce that feeling because it’s the day that you take time out and call one another even if you are busy and working.
My friends from college are still in touch with me. They live in London and Dubai. I am busy today and don’t spend much time with them but it doesn’t mean that I am not close to them.

I don’t think it’s fair to say that. Agar koi friend zaroori hai, toh woh zaroori hai (if a friend is important, he or she is indeed important).
Our relationship with our friends doesn’t change, but as we grow older our outlook towards celebrating Friendship Day changes. I can’t go to my friends and make them wear friendship bands anymore.
All my old and adorable friends are still in touch with me. For them, I am still a friend and not an actor. Even now when we meet, it’s like getting back to the old, mad and fun times.
Sidharth Malhotra
All the social networking sites will never be able to replace a heart-to-heart conversation which one has with their friends.
In today’s date, I feel friendship is far more important than what we had earlier. After my family, it’s my friends whom I rely or depend on for emotional support.
I do miss my friends and am very much in touch with my school friends and those in Mumbai.
Imran Khan
I feel it has become more important than anything else. It’s essential to hold onto friends who are really important to you. I have been friends with one of my closest pals for 25 years now. Some time back, he went abroad for four years, but the day he came back, we picked up from where we left off.
Father’s Day, Friendship Day, Mother’s Day — all these don’t matter because they have been created by card companies to sell their stuff.
Those who are special have stayed with me always. If, for whatever reasons, I’m not in touch with some of them, then we weren’t close.
Varun Dhawan
Even if I am busy or my friends are caught up, whenever I meet them everything will remain the same between us.
Friends last during good times and bad times but I find naming a day especially for friendships a little lame.
My two best friends – Aman and Ankit – are from the time when I was in junior KG.
Aditya Roy Kapur
A human being can’t live in isolation. It’s simple: if you are really close to someone — a friend or a relative — you will make time for that person.
Even if I do or don’t, it can’t really be a bad thing.
I am still in regular touch with my close bunch of school friends. We still spend a lot of time together.
For Friendship Day we’re taking a break from it but Afsana Ahmed will be back with the BIG INTERVIEW next Sunday.
