The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Will Smith will play a crook in the next film by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the duo behind the comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love. Smith will take on a part that was initially Ryan Gosling's, then Ben Affleck's until December. The actor is still in talks with Warner Bros about his participation. The studio may need to find a new actress to replace Kristen Stewart, who is also leaving the project after stepping in for Emma Stone.
Focus will center on the relationship between a master crook and a young woman who is his apprentice. They part ways bitterly but are forced to reunite in difficult circumstances for a job.
