For Jai Ho, Khan has signed on two contestants from the reality show he hosts. Here, the television actors, Sana and Santosh, talk about their rapport with the star and making their dream debuts.
There can be no bigger platform than a Salman Khan film: Sana Khan
Bagging a Salman Khan film is a big deal and Sana Khan is super excited about her debut project, Jai Ho. She claims she's ready to shock people with her part in the Sohail Khan movie.
After her alleged role in an attempted kidnapping case, the actor gave her first interview to us and spoke about working on the big screen.
"People have seen the cute and sweet Sana in Bigg Boss but they will see a new side to me in the film," says Sana. However, she doesn't see herself as the second lead, "We all have equal footage. Our characters are different so I don't know if I should call mine a parallel lead. But I can say that my character is the surprise element," she adds.
So will she be surprising us with an item number?
"There are no item songs and I am not dancing in any song. The film has a social message about a people's man. It's not a typical Salman Khan movie. People will a different side to him this time,"she says.
Talking about her rapport with Salman, she says, "We aren't best buddies and I don't hang out with him. But he is known for launching talent and there is no bigger platform than working in his film. He offered me the role while I was still in the house. I couldn't talk about it for three months, it was tough for me," she says, laughing.
Salman said I could be the stylish villian Bollywood needs: Santosh
Santosh Shukla says that Salman told him that the industry needs a stylish villain and that he could fill that spot.
Santosh Shukla was signed on for Salman Khan's Jai Ho three days after he was evicted from the Bigg Boss house.
Still reeling from the shock, he says, "It was unbelievable. I started shooting for the film just a few days after I left the show. Salman and Sohail bhai feel our industry lacks a stylish villain, and that this spot will be filled by me. I am grateful to Salman bhai for this opportunity."
However, Santosh doesn't think that Salman being in favour of a particular person means that he or she has a sure shot chance of bagging his films. "He looks for talent. If he likes their work he might give that person a chance. If people think Elli (Avram) might get a chance, then good for her," he says, referring to reports about Salman favouring another Bigg Boss contestant.
Ask him about his fellow housemates on the show, and Santosh says, "Some of them are badtameez (ill-mannered). They target Salman bhai and force him to say things that become controversial. He is a superb host. The contestants aren't aware of their image outside, so they should thank him for guiding them."
Santosh who was 'in love' with ex-contestant Aashaka Goradia isn't in touch with her anymore.
He is in talks with a couple of film-makers including Tigmanshu Dhulia, but is waiting for Jai Ho to release before he signs anything else.
