The team of War Chhod Na Yaar, starring Sharman Joshi, Soha Ali Khan and Jaaved Jaaferi, was kicked about spending an evening at Wagah border on the eve of the release of the film, produced by AOPL Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.

However, the cast was in for a disappointment when the army and the central government did not give them permission for it. The team wanted to screen the film, which is India’s first war comedy, for the soldiers deployed at the border, and also meet them. In the film, Joshi plays an Indian army officer, while Jaaferi plays an officer in the Pakistani army.

'We sought permission, but unfortunately, we didn’t get it. We were surely disappointed,' says Joshi. 'We were looking forward to a screening at the border because in many ways, the film is a tribute to our brave soldiers,' says Soha. Jaaferi adds that they had bigger plans. 'We actually intended to send sweets across from our side as Eid is coming up. We also thought of having a screen which could be seen from both the sides ... like a projector in villages.' The film, directed by Faraz Haider, releases today.
